about

I had the pleasure of becoming friends with Chris during the time in which I resided in Phoenixville.

After becoming the Open Mic host at Steel City our encounters grew in to a musical understanding that gave way to a friendship in which I still hold dear. In late 2014 we began recording the music presented here and overtime we saw less and less of one another. Eventually the music existed solely as a file on a hard drive in a corner of a room and the idea of anything coming of it was hardly given a thought.

From what I understood Chris was still playing music and working the front door at Steel City along with running through his weekly routine. And then over the summer of 2016, I learned that he been taken from us. The news of his loss saddened me and angered me and gave rise to unanswerable questions and became this gnawing question mark of uncertainty that lingered upon my person. I was confounded as how to appease this mawing vacuum.

Well, his music still existed.

Music that is a testimony to his struggles, fears, hopes, humors, talents, loves and passions. This album, which started as two musicians seeking to share a creation with the world, turned into so much more than that for me. It became a story. It became a memorial. It became an emotion. It became a magnificent representation of an artist bearing all through his art but sadly has been denied a second, third, or fourth act. This is not the final chapter we want, so continue the story where you can. Let the music inspire you to laugh and to cry. Let it make you angry and then lift you up. Let it offer some substance of hope that can help fill the void. Hold it close and let it comfort you.
Allow it to take you where it wants.

In memory of Chris

Sincerely,

Joseph Pasternack
